John Scully named Lake County, IL Associate Judge

23Feb09 - The newest associate judges in Lake County are John Scully and Donna-Jo Vorderstrasse.

Chief Judge James Booras said the two were elected by a vote of the sitting circuit judges and have been recently confirmed by the state Supreme Court.

Scully, of Lindenhurst, was an assistant U.S. attorney from 1982 until

2007 and part of the prosecution team in the "Family Secrets" organized crime trial. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Scully served in the Navy from 1965 until 1978 and retired from the Naval Reserves in 1999 at the rank of captain.

Vorderstrasse, a partner in the firm of Diver, Grach, Quade & Masini, concentrated in family law during her 25-year career as an attorney.

She has served as a family court mediator, president of the Association of Women Attorneys in Lake County and a member of the Sexual Offender Management Board. Arrangements for a formal installation ceremony for the new judges are pending, Booras said.
